URBAN VILLAGE PUBs
Urban Village Pub Company is an independent pub company founded by Ian Grundy and Gavin Drew. We currently operate a number of pubs in the South East of England. We are supported by Rufus Hall as Non-exec Chairman and Steve Hipgrave as Operations Director.
Our vision is to take the best characteristics of village pubs and blend them with the more contemporary environment of an urban pub.
Each pub has the relaxed, informal and friendly attributes of the Great British pub combined with a modern, contemporary and vibrant environment that has a strong sense of identity within the local community.
Each of our pubs share a love for great beer. Every pub has an ever-changing range of cask ale, often from local, small breweries. Each pub has a self-service fridge, which is stocked with more than 30 beers, and our craft beer walls see the most interesting keg beers from some of the finest breweries on the planet.
It's going to be love at first bite...all our food is made with a whole lot of love with some of the freshest ingredients from suppliers we trust. Our head of food, Sarah Thomas produces dishes which are interesting, tasty, uncomplicated and affordable.
Our pubs are all about bringing people together because what’s more important than being with friends and family? We want our customers to spend time with us and have a thoroughly good time; we instil in our teams the need for them to put the people who visit our pubs at the very centre of what they do.
Our independence allows us to listen and adapt, delivering what our customers want each and every time they visit. We are passionate about ensuring our customers enjoy their time in any of our pubs whatever their reason for visiting.

We love pubs because we love people, we like to give them a good time and make them happy. Happy people live in a happy world and that's why we take our responsibilities to the community and to the planet extremely seriously.
We are aware that our pubs use plenty of energy and every day our kitchens and bars produce waste through packaging – that’s why we are committed to becoming a carbon-neutral business by the end of 2023. Within this we are reducing wastage, increasing our recycling and improving our energy efficiency. Alongside partnering with ethical supply chains, minimising non-recyclable waste and adopting best practices we are confident we will be successful in our mission to become a carbon-neutral pub company.

All of our washroom waste is managed by Greenworks solutions, they recycle it and use it in energy production.
1st Waste manages all of our business waste, they are committed to lean recycling, waste minimisation and innovative waste recovery solutions. 1st Waste is also a member of the verified carbon standard group working with businesses to reduce their carbon footprint.

THE URBAN VILLAGE PEOPLE
We care about people, that’s why we are in the pub business. We think people make all the difference in our pubs and we work hard to make our team feel just as much at home as our guests.
Our pubs are great, but it’s our people that make them stand out. We are a small company and aspire to know each and every one of our team members personally. Our team tell us they appreciate the personal approach and they feel they are not just another number.
We create in house specialists and champions so that's why we think it is important that we promote from within wherever possible and that we are very proud of the people we’ve seen grow through the ranks.
We are committed to training and the development of our Urban Village teams.
We offer a full induction programme, on the job e-learning and even the opportunity to take workplace apprenticeships and NVQ’s to further develop our team's careers in hospitality.
We are always looking for great people in a variety of roles from managers, chefs, kitchen team and front of house teams.
